Don't Be Intimidated: Your Bible Is for You

Hey Beloved!

Can I talk to you for a minute? Like, heart to heart?

I want to share something really personal—something that changed my life and still continues to change me daily: reading the Word of God. I know… that can feel overwhelming. The Bible can look big, ancient, and full of language that doesn’t always feel easy to understand. But let me tell you, the Bible is not just a book. It’s a love letter. It’s guidance. It’s truth. It’s life.

I recorded this message because I know what it’s like to feel intimidated by Scripture. Maybe you’ve been there—staring at the pages, not knowing where to start. Or maybe you've felt distant from God and wondered if He really speaks.

Well, let me tell you: He does.

Here are five things I shared in a video that I believe will help you begin (or continue) your journey with God through His Word:

1. The Bible Is God's Voice—And He’s Speaking to You

If you've ever said, “I just don’t hear God,” here’s something I learned: One of the most direct ways God speaks is through His Word. Every time you open the Bible, you’re inviting God to talk to you. It’s not just a history book—it’s a living, breathing message that can speak into your situation right now.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

2. It’s Okay to Start Small

You don’t have to read the entire Bible in a week. You don’t even have to finish it in a year. Start where you are. I recommend beginning with the Book of John—it’s all about Jesus: who He is, why He came, and what He’s done for us. Don’t feel pressured. God honors your steps, even if they’re small.

3. You’re Not Alone in This

I know it can feel like you’re on your own. Maybe you’re not plugged into a church or don’t have a Bible study group yet. But here’s the truth: We can grow together. That’s what this journey is about. I don’t know the entire Bible either—I’m still learning! But we’re in this together, and you don’t have to figure it out all by yourself.

4. Reading the Word Protects You from Lies

When you don’t know the truth for yourself, it’s easier to be deceived—even by people who mean well. That’s why reading the Bible personally is so powerful. It helps you recognize God’s truth, understand His heart, and avoid being misled.

5. God Wants You Rooted—Deeply

The more you read, the more rooted you become. And I’m not just talking about knowledge—I’m talking about transformation. God wants to grow your faith, your wisdom, and your understanding. The Bible is the seed. Every verse you read is a root digging deeper into God’s love and truth.

So today, I want to challenge you: Open your Bible. Just one page. Maybe just one verse. Don’t let fear, shame, or confusion keep you from what God wants to say to you.

Let’s grow deeper roots in Christ together.

With love and encouragement,
