Hey Beloved!
Iâm so glad youâre here. Letâs get honest: spiritual growth isn't always straightforward. It can easily slip into legalism, condemnation, or even unhealthy striving. But here at Spiritual Growth Matters, we want to growâhealthy, free, as led by the Holy Spirit. And thatâs exactly what Jesus modeled for us.
Here are 7 things for you to remember as you pursue growth in your walk with God:
1. Love God, Love Yourself, Love Others
Everything starts and ends with love. Jesus said (Matthew 22:37â39), âLove God with all your heart⊠and love your neighbor as yourself.â Loving God fuels everything else. Loving yourself with grace fuels healthy relationships. And loving others in humility reflects Christ.
2. You Are Not Alone
Growth can feel isolating, but you're not walking this road solo. Jesus left us the Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Helper (John 14:26). Letâs lean into Himânot our feelings or self-effort.
3. Your Growth Is Ongoing
Youâre a work in progressâand thatâs a good thing! God isnât mad at your imperfections; Heâs developing you. Like building muscle, consistent, small efforts lead to long-term transformation. Growth takes timeâso stay faithful.
4. If Youâre in ChristâYouâre Not Condemned
One of the best truths: Romans 8:1 says, âThere is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.â If you belong to Him, shame and guilt arenât keeping score. Weâre free to learn and grow without fear.
5. Growth Only Happens Through God
In John 15:4â5, Jesus likens us to branches: cut off, we bear no fruit. Stay connectedââabideââin Him. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. Growth flows through intimacy with God, not self-reliance.
6. Faith Without Action Isnât Enough
James 2:19â20 wakes us up: âEven the demons believeâŠand tremble!â Real growth shows itself in spiritual fruit. Abiding in Christ leads naturally into acts of love, service, and obedience. Let your faith be lived out.
7. Obedience to Godâs Word Is Essential
Ecclesiastes 12:13 says it plainly: âFear God and keep His commandments.â Study and belief arenât enough. What matters is doing. Doing what God commands. Not for the sake of doing, but because you love God and reverence Him. Our faith is measured in action.
â€ïž Growing Together
Beloved, this journey isnât about striving to check off spiritual tasks. Itâs about walking in grace, led by the Holy Spirit, rooted in love, and equipped with the Word. These seven reminders arenât rulesâtheyâre foundations for flourishing.
Iâm on this journey alongside youâlearning, growing, showing up imperfectly but intentionally.
Letâs stay connected. Letâs keep rooted. Letâs keep growingâtogether.
With you in grace and hope,
Lashondra
